Chartiers City is located on the western edge of the City of Pittsburgh. It is surrounded by the neighborhoods of Windgap, Sheraden, and the suburban communities of Ingram and McKees Rocks. Chartiers City has a decidedly suburban flavor with a mixture of ranch, bungalow, and split-level housing stock throughout the neighborhood. The neighborhood is home to one of the best baseball/softball fields in the city at Chartiers Park. Also, it is in close driving proximity to the retail areas of Crafton-Ingram Shopping Center and McKees Rocks.


Families in Chartiers City enjoy a variety of educational options. The Pittsburgh Public School District - which was recently named one of the Country's Top Ten Large Urban Districts by - offers a mix of neighborhood schools and specialized magnet choices in or near Chartiers City, including:
