Joy of Cookies Cookie Tour in its TENTH year! in Lawrenceville

Lawrenceville's celebrated Joy of Cookies Cookie Tour is in its eleventh year, offering the "un-mall" experience to those who want to shop for unique holiday gifts...and enjoy nibbling delicious cookies along the way. The tour happens Thursday, December 3 through Sunday, December 6. On Saturday, visitors can catch a trolley cruising the neighborhood from 34th to 55th Streets and side streets in between. Also on Saturday, visitors can attend a Cookie Mall bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church, located on 37th and Butler. The bake sale, organized by the Lawrenceville Rotary, will benefit local community groups and charitable causes. The Joy of Cookies Cookie Tour is certainly one event in Lawrenceville not to be missed.

Anita Kulina will take us on a virtual history tour of Greenfield, which until 1868 was part of Squirrel Hill. With photos of current locales linking you to the past, you'll learn the history of sites you may drive by every day. She'll take us back as far as the days when Squirrel Hill was a hunting ground for Indians, and she'll show us sites which in the past were coal mines, brickyards and forts. She'll tell us stories of bootleggers, prizefighters, acrobats, "white Indians" and other renegades.

Celebrate the Season Parade festivities begin at 9:00 AM. Parade begins at Mellon Arena traveling down Fifth Avenue, and ending at Point State Park.
Highlights of this year's parade include Curious George, Winnie The Pooh, Pittsburgh Parrote, Stely McBeam, area bands, and stars like Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner. There will also be inflatable balloons such as the Eat 'n Park Smiley Cookie, Macy's Stars and Toy Soldier.
